pt Health Foot care Program
Foot Care For Residents
Keeping residents ambulatory and healthy is our primary goal. That’s why pt Health is now offering foot care for our residents. This new service includes taking care of all of our patients’ diabetic and foot care needs. Under the care of a nurse with advanced training and education in foot care, each client will receive ongoing care as needed. This includes assessment and treatment of foot-related problems, including nail care and nail conditions like ingrown nails and nail fungus, as well as treating corns, calluses and bunions. Diabetic foot care is also provided.
Foot Care You Can Count On
There’s nothing more annoying than a foot problem that causes constant discomfort or pain. Having a foot problem makes everyday movement difficult if not impossible, and impacts the body’s overall health. That’s why we’ve added foot care to our range of services – care you can count on.
A nurse with advanced education and training in foot care will evaluate each resident who requests treatment. Once the problem is assessed, a plan of follow-up treatment will be presented and implemented. Each client is required to provide their own towel for each foot care treatment session and pt Health will provide all other supplies.
A Full Range of Services Are Available
Our nurse specialist will assess and treat most foot problems. Any foot injury or disease that warrants it will be referred to an appropriate foot care specialist, and the resident’s referring physician will be kept appraised of the situation.
Services include:
- Diabetic foot care
- Nail care
- Ingrown nails
- Nail fungus, corn and callus assessment and treatment
- Bunions
These services include padding, dressings, etc., as deemed necessary by the foot care
nurse.
pt Health can help determine if required services are covered by third party extended insurance, WSIB or OHIP, and will conveniently bill the appropriate party on the residents behalf. Those patients not covered by insurance can arrange for treatment on a self-pay basis.
