Education To Reduce Falls And Increase Participation In ADLs
To promote resident participation in ADLs, the therapist will:
- Discuss changes the resident is willing to make to prevent falls
- Address potential barriers to participation such as fear of falling and low self-efficacy
Written and verbal educational information will be provided for:
- Risk factors
- Strategies to prevent falls
- Preventable nature of some falls
- Physical/psychological benefits of modifying the risk of falling
- How to manage and cope a fall
